




SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 22

Requesting the Commissioner of the Division of Highways name that
certain bridge which crosses Kitchen Creek at Gap Mills, West
Virginia, on State Route 3, the "Gap Mills Ruritan Memorial
Bridge".
Whereas, The Ruritan Club at Gap Mills, West Virginia, is the
oldest Ruritan Club in the state, having been established in 1933;
and
Whereas, The Gap Mills Ruritan Club is a community-service
organization which funds scholarships for high school seniors,
offers free home repairs for those in need, sponsors the "Adopt a
Highway" program and the "Meet Your Candidate" meetings and whose members volunteer for a broad range of service projects; and
Whereas, The oldest charter member of a West Virginia Ruritan
Club, James Frasier, who was a member of the Gap Mills Ruritan
Club, recently passed away; and
Whereas, It is fitting that the contributions of the Gap Mills
Ruritan Club and the memory of its original charter members, who
are all deceased now, be recognized; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby requests the Commissioner of the
Division of Highways name that certain bridge which crosses Kitchen
Creek at Gap Mills, West Virginia, on State Route 3, the "Gap Mills
Ruritan Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner is requested to have
made and be placed, at either end of the bridge, signs identifying
the bridge as the "Gap Mills Ruritan Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Secretary of
Transportation, the Commissioner of the Division of Highways and
the Gap Mills Ruritan Club.
